One of the biggest problems we've faced this year in Sierra Leone is all of the trash/rubbish/junk swarming around the ship. The intake valve system that cools the engines get clogged so rapidly that divers are diving several times a day to clear away plastic bags and other junk that builds up (all the junk causes our engines to overheat and shut off!) Some days it is too dangerous to dive because of strong currents and dark murky waters. We don't have very many divers on the ship, so these guys are working a lot of extra hours and going way beyond the call of duty as Mercy Shippers! (This photo is of Ollie our Land Rover expert and Dan, an ICU nurse.) Without the hard work of our divers and technical crew, our lights, air conditioning, etc. would be no more! Many thanks guys!
Oh my gosh, it took a really long time for me to realize there was a person in that picture. That's really sad and disgusting.
